Wedding FAQs

  • Due to living in Birmingham, most of my work is in Birmingham and the West Midlands but I would be very happy to shoot your wedding anywhere in the UK – let me know your wedding plans and I can let you know.

  • What strikes me is the uniqueness of each wedding I attend. Sure, there will always be the preparations, the ceremony, the shared meal and celebrations, these elements are, if you excuse the wedding reference they are the”table plan” of the day. The uniqueness comes from the individual players, their feelings, relationships and raw emotions. I like to understand people and to make a unique record of their day. There is a world of difference between a photograph of a naturally occurring moment and one where people pose – are ‘camera aware’. Although I do take some posed photographs (group shots for example) – for me they do not have the life, the depth of interest, as the ones I take of naturally occurring moments. You could sum up this style as “documentary”, or “reportage”. I like to work as a photojournalist who observes the events and moments of the day. Brides often tell me afterwards that the day went so fast they hardly had time to step back and take it all in. When they see their photographs it is they are often seeing these moments for the first time, things that they were unaware of on the day. It’s these unpredictable and fleeting moments that I love to capture and what makes this job such an enjoyable privilege.

  • Don’t take the risk! I’ve seen far too many horror stories…. The equipment I use is specifically designed to capture perfect images in low light settings, for example, in churches where often no flash is allowed. I also carry full back-up equipment in case there are any problems on the day. For every wedding I bring around £20k worth of equipment. Weddings are unique occasions. After the event, all you are left with is memories and images, so it’s worth taking the trouble to make sure you have the best record of the day you can get.

  • Yes, of course. I love to meet couples - why don’t we meet for a coffee and a chat? You can tell me all about your wedding plans and I can show you some beautiful albums.

  • A booking is only secured once we have a signed contract and deposit. The first couple to do this secures the day.

  • If I were to be so ill on your wedding day that I couldn’t shoot your wedding (it has never happened in over 10 years – so far so good!) I would think I am sure I would have at least 1 or 2 days’ time in which to put into place cover for your wedding. I have a wealth of photographer friends in the industry – I have stepped in for others and I am sure they would reciprocate if they were available. I am also a member of an online emergency cover forum for professional wedding photographers which has 3400 members. This group has always been extremely reliable in finding cover at the last minute for photographers in need of cover.

  • I love to photograph your destination weddings! I photographed a fabulous wedding in Lanzarote.

  • You can expect to receive somewhere between 250 to 500 images depending on how long I am with you on the day. It’s a trite saying but it’s true: quality not quantity!

  • I own the copyright to the images but I give you the right to print them. You can do whatever you want with them for your personal use, but you can’t use them for commercial purposes.

  • Wedding photography involves a lot of work and very expensive equipment. There is a lot of time involved in meeting you, planning and checking out the venue before your wedding day. After the event, while you are on your honeymoon enjoying cocktails, I am beavering away. I don’t just download your images onto a CD, I do a lot of editing (which can take 2-3 days) to ensure the the images look just right.

  • Yes, I do take group photographs if you would like them. We will discuss this in the lead-up to your wedding so that you can choose the group shots you would like and discuss any VIPs you would like me to take.

  • You will normally receive your images within one month. I will always aim to send you a couple of photographs within two or three days after your wedding to whet your appetite!

  • I currently offer albums from Graphistudio, Folio and Queensberry. As I’m a professional wedding photographer if you’ve seen an album from another company which you would like I can register with that company and source an album from them.

  • I will ask you to provide me a list of “must have” photos and I will base the design around those favourite images. I will send you proofs of the album until you are happy for me to send it to print.

  • Yes, of course. I have collections that include your album and albums for parents and even bridesmaids. These are smaller versions of your album and are very popular with parents and family members.

  • Yes I have public liability insurance.

  • A booking fee of £300 is required to secure the wedding date.

  • The full balance needs to be paid at any point up to 6 weeks before the wedding day.
