Romantic Rowton Castle Wedding Photography
Victoria and Henry’s wedding at Rowton Castle took place on a glorious day in April. They were so lucky as they had arranged an outdoor ceremony, quite a high risk for an English April! Henry had contacted me from America where he was working, to arrange the wedding photography and the couple flew in from America for their wedding.
The day was crisp and cool but the sun made up for it in spades.
Preparations for the Wedding
I arrived early to check out the best spots and the effects of sun and shade, estimating how this would change as we moved through the day. I photographed both bride and groom preparations which included gifts by the couple to each other. This was a lovely touch as was the notes they each wrote to accompany the wedding gifts.
The Outdoor Ceremony
The outdoor ceremony was a red carpet affair set in front of the magnificent Rowton Castle which provided a superb backdrop to the wedding. Many of the guests had flown in from America and loved the castle setting for the wedding. The eighteenth century gazebo with columns where the couple stood looked terrific. After the ceremony we had drinks and canapés on the lawn where the couple were able to welcome and talk to friends and family.
Why I love Wedding Photography at Rowton Castle
Rowton Castle is one of Shropshire’s and the West Midlands’ top wedding venues. This romantic seventeenth century Castle near Shrewsbury can be hired exclusively for your wedding. It is set in magnificent countryside and has beautiful grounds. As an added bonus it has nineteen rooms where you and your guests an stay. The rooms are elegant and weddings look spectacular in both outdoor and indoor settings. For wedding photography you are spoilt for choice! The grounds are lovely and there are so many wonderful angles for photographs. For Victoria and Henry’s wedding we had spotted a field full of rape seed oil flowers so we couldn’t resist a visit for some romantic couple photographs. The castle itself looks terrific in the daytime and at night.
The wedding party moved inside the Castle for the wedding breakfast. Afterwards there were touching speeches and I love capturing the happy tears, the laughter and reactions on faces. The evening provided an opportunity for dancing and partying and was enjoyed by all. This was the end of a happy and perfect day.
