Christmas weddings always have a special feel to them. I was delighted when Helen & James asked me to photograph their Christmas wedding at Rowton Castle as I had not photographed a wedding there before. Bridal prep started nearby Wollaston Lodge, a gorgeous bed and breakfast between Shrewsbury and Welshpool – in beautiful Shropshire. The girls had a great laugh in the morning and I captured some great moments as they got ready. I loved the bridesmaid’s expression seeing Helen all made up in her dress (see below) – classic!
Rowton Castle was beautifully decorated complete with a Christmas tree, tinsel, baubles and other decorations throughout the castle which really helped give a wonderful cosy feel to the wedding. One feature of a Winter wedding is that it gets dark early. However, from a photography perspective this is a real bonus as it’s possible to create some really beautiful and atmospheric night time images. I was really pleased that Helen and James were open to any shot suggestions I had. I was really pleased with a the night time shots outside the main entrance – see the penultimate image. I was also pretty chuffed with the fairy lights shot which concludes the blog post.
Revisiting this wedding about 6 months on (I hardly ever seem to find the time for blogging!) it’s so lovely to see was what fun Helen, James and their guests had, and what a fantastic happy vibe there was at this wedding – so much laughter and so many smiles. This wedding was a first for me – I have never seen a dancefloor fill so quickly in all my wedding photography career! As soon as Helen & James beaconed people to join them after their first dance, the floor filled almost immediately to the soundtrack of Jess Glynn’s fantastic Real Love. Such a great end to a fantastic day. Congratulations Helen and James! Enjoy the photos!
“Oh my goodness! You’ve just bought a tear to my eye…Thank you so much Frank, these are everything I could have wished for and more 🙂 ” Helen
