Old Library Digbeth Birmingham Wedding Photography
Liz and Sam’s wedding at the Old Library in the Custard Factory in Digbeth Birmingham was a brilliant fun-packed day. Liz and Sam (a very cool couple!) wanted a no-fuss, relaxed day with lots of fun for their guests. They told me they wanted their wedding day to have a laid-back vibe with fun, food & drink with little fuss – exactly what I like! My photography style is a no-fuss, laid-back approach which captures all the fun and emotion of the day so I knew we were a great fit from the outset.
The Old Library is, as its name might suggest, the last of the free old libraries in Birmingham built in 1886. It has a beautifully high ceiling with numerous windows which gives the room a fabulous, light, bright atmosphere – I loved the indoor confetti exit they made out the venue which looked fabulous.
Just desserts (Custard Factory reference – I’ll get my coat…) for a lovely, laid back, fun couple
If you’re not familiar with The Custard Factory in Digbeth Birmingham, it’s the site of the Bird’s custard factory which has now been transformed into cool, hipster shops, bars and workspaces. The old industrial architecture and graffiti provide an edgy and grungy backdrop to the wedding photos. Liz and Sam had specifically asked for some portraits with the graffiti – it was great fun walking the streets and finding some cool backdrops.
Drinks at Zellig
After the ceremony we all went over the road to Zellig for drinks. It’s a cool, creative space which is available to hire for wedding receptions. It’s full of interesting talking point works of art and sculptures – see my photos below.
Party back at The Night Owl
After drinks in Zellig we went on to The Night Owl for some delicious paella, and then everyone hit the dancefloor. All in all a fun wedding that reminded me of what a privilege and pleasure it is to photograph weddings. Thanks for having me along Liz and Sam!
hi Frank – I was just exploring your website and thought I’d take a look at your Digbeth shots – then thought “nice buttonholes” then… hang on a minute….. they’re mine! Would you mind if I share a link to this blogpost on my social media? Great stuff in here!
Sure thing! 🙂
