Manor By The Lake – A Wedding Photographer’s Playground

Manor By the Lake is a beautifully maintained Victorian manor house oozing with character set in spectacular grounds in the Cotswolds. Not only is it a terrific wedding venue, it’s also a real photographer’s playground – that wonderful tree-lined walkway, the lake and bridge, some gorgeous mature trees and the house providing an elegant backdrop to the photos.  It always gives me great pleasure photographing at a wonderful stately home set in beautiful grounds such as those at Manor By The Lake.

Autumnal Wedding Photography at Manor By The Lake

This was a November wedding but the weather was exceptionally kind – in fact it was stunning! I spent some time with the guys getting ready and playing table football in the games room, then I headed over to see the girls getting ready upstairs in the bridal suite. The bridal suite at Manor By The Lake is very spacious and I was able to take some lovely bridal portraits in the gorgeous windows w light. The ceremony room is extremely impressive with tall windows and elegant wooden panelling. The ceremony was filled with some lovely moments including a lovely moment of the couple hugging just after signing the register (see the black and white photo). Following the ceremony the wedding guests spilled out on to the courtyard where we did a really terrific confetti run – some wonderful happy expressions on Kirsty and Joni’s faces. Being a November wedding I was conscious of us losing the light fairly early in the afternoon so after some formal group photos I took the couple out into the spectacular grounds for some photographs. The lighting in the woodland area was just perfect at the all important golden hour. The speeches were hilarious – as a wedding photographer I’m always on the lookout for reaction shots that tell the story – often I have my composition just right hoping that the subject will burst into laughter or showing a wonderful expression in some way. The wedding party didn’t disappoint! I particularly enjoyed the first dance photos – especially one in which Kirsty is crying – just beautiful. In my opinion I get paid to capture emotion – and it’s a real thrill to capture these real moments. The wedding day (for me anyway!) ended with some lovely night portraits – this is a real bonus for Autumnal weddings – plenty of time to be creative in the dark.

Are You Looking for a Manor By The Lake Wedding Photographer?

All in all, it was my first time shooting at Manor By The Lake and I was blown away by what a beautiful wedding venue it is. Also, I might add, a venue is nothing without guests and I had a blast with Kirsty and Jono – we had a great laugh together and got some beautiful photos in the process. If you have chosen Manor By The Lake as your wedding venue you have chosen very well indeed – you’re going to have a great time! I know some lovely spots for photos – do let me know if you’d like some information on pricing and also my approach to wedding photography. I will leave you with Kirsty and Jono’s very kind words:

“Frank, what can I say… We are absolutely thrilled to bits with our collection. You have captured our day perfectly and helped us re-live the day through your beautiful pictures. You are such a professional person, completely unintrusive with an amazing eye for detail. I am so pleased that we came across you. I booked without hesitation after seeing your pictures and now I can see the reason why. Thank you much. Kirsty and Jono xx”
